SKS help
O.K. all, My father-in-law just bought me a SKS. I wouldn't heve bought it myself but would never give up a free gun, besides it looks good. My question is, how do I get all the greese or is it cosmoline off this gun. Its everywhere and I'm afraid I will damage wood stock. please help.

Is the gas shutoff in the "off" position?
Have you cleaned the gas port?
Is the gas piston/rod free to move in the gas tube?
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.0 -
Tailgunner thanks for the reply. My gas plunger will not move. I took the gun all apart and when I push down it will move toward where the piston would be then I put it back together and it will not move. It will not move to the right side of the gas block when it is essembled or dis. 0 -
Ya this thing will not move nto the semiauto position. Its all going to hell.[:(!] 0 -
When you say "all apart", do you mean every last tiny little itty bitty part in the entire gun? Because, if you don't, then you need to do so.

Well thanks guys for the help. Tommorrow I will have to take it to the man to get looked at. The gas shutoff - on valve will not mov e down or to the right. I can push the button in but it wont budge.
Never had a problem with a commy gun before. O well I'll figure something out. Thanks again.[;)]0 -
Use a bigger hammer! Or a vice if you have one.
On, I believe, is to the right. I hope you cleaned it before you shot it? Did you clean that piston under the rear sight? Lot of people miss it.
