The samples I've seen look good overall, but I've never shot one. For a basic shooter, it's certainly priced right.

Hello this pistol is made in ASIA and is in noy connected with the US ARMY ARSENAL that was at Rock Island they just stole the name their guns are ok for plinkers but be aware the metal does not test to the same rockwell hardness as KIMBER, COLT, LES BAER, and others they would NOT be a good choice to build a custom gun from as U.S. aftermarket parts may or may not fit."PRAISE THE HARDBALL GUN" 0 -
What you're really asking about is Rock Island Armory (Phillipines) which is in no way related to Rock Island Arsnel(marketing ploy, I suppose)...The Rock Island Armory/Armscor is about the best deal going for a value vs. dollars spent on a model 1911 knockoff...gun dealers currently have a hard time getting them and no problem selling them(you'd better hurry,retail prices are going up as we speak).... hell no it isn't a Kimber, etc. but still a great deal for the money... if you will investigate other sites such as 1911 forum, etc. you will see what I mean...their are experts on this forum that come out to bash anything good anybody has to say concerning Rock Island/Armscor...RIA had a bad rap once upon a time but I don't believe it is the same product it may have been a few years ago...I had the opportunity to take either a NIB Springer GI Stainless or an Armscor Stainless and customize it up from the frame/slide up...after ordering just about everything Wilson Combat has to offer, hand checkered forestrap, polishing, genuine African elephant ivory grips, etc., I have never regteted it. No, I don't plan on shooting 10,000 rounds through it either.... My "barbecue gun"...bottom line, buy the Rock Island and never look back...BTW....you absoloutely cannot beat their service, ask for Ivan.. 0
