Winchester 1894 Takedown Adjustment

I have a M1894 Winchester with several special order features including that it is a short rifle with a takedown. The takedown does not have the usual adjusting screws to compensate for wear of the takedown system. It isn't that the screws are missing, there is no provision for them at all. Other takedowns I have seen all have the adjusting system. Is this highly unusual? The serial number is around 230XXX.

    I have never encountered one that did not have the three adjusting screws... can you send me photos of your Takedown? Another question comes to mind also... have you lettered your Model 1894 through the Cody Firearms Museum yet?

    BertH: I'll try to take some photos to send you. The gun is lettered and all its special features are noted in the letter. The letter does not say anything about the takedown being other than the normal system. I just wonder if Winchester somehow missed drilling and tapping for the screws.

    Hello glabray...

    I sincerely doubt that. Winchester did not allow anything out of the factory back then that was not perfect.
