I was thinking about picking up an enfield rifle and i think these people have good prices. how are they to deal with? shipping, quality, etc?

I've bought a number of milsurp rifles from SOG over the years, 18 or 20 or so. Guns, not years. They are fair with S/H charges, their service is rapid and I feel that their product descriptions are accurate. If ordering by phone, you should know that they charge an extra 2% for credit card payment. This isn't unique to SOG,and they do advise of this in their flyers. They are used to dealing with us C&R FFL purchasers. Hope this helps.

that will just be a little over $2 so it is no problem. the enfields they have on the site look pretty decent. i mainly just want it to play with more than anything else. isn't going to be a collectors piece or anything. just something to say, "hey look what i bought." the ones i have seen around here are pretty much junky and they cost more than this. they are covered in cosmoline. the wood is shoddy and they are pretty rusty. this just looked like a good way togo rather than buy some junk here. thanks, and i will be placing an order soon.

Word of advice about SOG:
They often discount for multiple purchases of the same item. Buy 5 of what you want. Select out the best one or two and sell the others to your friends.

..have dealt with them in the past. Had an Argentine Ace which I refurbished and decided I really didn't like. Had it over a year..sent it back and they sent me a check for more than I purchased it for. Gibbs Rifle does some really neat stuff with the ole enfields

I recently bought a couple pistols from them, may have been a fluke but they were difficult to deal with. I placed my order on the internet, they never did contact me with a total so after a week I started calling ( e-mails un answered ). Sent the check called them and they had recieved it, they couldn't tell me when it would ship ( recieved check on wednesday, couldn't say if it would go out Thurs, fri, or mon ), I asked for a tracking # and the pistols were here before they would respond with a tracking #, and they had a surly attitude about it. Product was as described, service was slow, rude and not helpful. 0 -
Some time ago, I ordered a group of rifles from SOG. I believe they were 1891 Mosin-Nagants. All were advertised to be complete with cleaning rod.
One rifle had no cleaning rod. I called SOG customer service. Here is how that went:
"I ordered five rifles. They were all supposed to have cleaning rods, and one doesn't have one."
"You can send that one back for exchange or refund."
"Thanks, but how about you just send me a cleaning rod? No sense me paying shipping for an entire rifle back to you, and you paying shipping for another rifle back to me."
"We can't do that."
"Why not?"
"We don't have any extra cleaning rods. If we send you one, we will have to remove it from a rifle, and then we will have a rifle with no cleaning rod."
"If I send this rifle back to you, and you send me another one, you will STILL have one rifle with no cleaning rod, and both of us will be out shipping costs."
"Oh. You're right, but I still can't do it."
"Let me speak to your supervisor please."
(Supervisor saw it my way and sent me a rod.)

so i should probably just have my FFL dealer do it for me? i know it will go through an FFL, i was just going to take care of it myself and just get it shipped to my dealer. i keep him busy enough, ha.

If you have a C&R license, do it yourself. If you don't have and the rifle was made after 1899 it will have to go through an ffl. 0 -
I ordered 3 Yugo k98 capture rifles from them cause thats what they had pictured in the flyer. They sent me Yugo M48s saying that the M48/98 capture rifles were mixed in with them. After arguing with customer service, sales, and then a supervizer I got them to take them back and issue me a total refund. I had to explain to them that the m48 and the m48/98 rifles are not the same rifle. I am still waiting for my check 2 weeks later. 0 -
We have dealt with them for many years and they have good service, BUT like anything you deal with, crap happens from time to time. They always did right by us if a mix up or missing something. One thing though is I have seen some of their enfields that l;ook terrible at first sight but a REAL good cleaning does wonders. If what you order looks rougher than expected, clean it up before contacting them, you might not want to contact thm after the cleaning. The Enfield Jungle Carbines were the ones we thought were not as good as should have been till we cleaned them. Over all a good company but as with all companies, a mistake does happen from time to time. They will make it right.
Education is nothing if common sense and manners are not in the curriculum!0
