Non-underlugged 6" 617 Smith and Wesson

Iv'e been thinning out my collection of thirty years and am trying to determine the value of a smith model 617 6" with a non-underlugged barrel. The box and papers were destroyed in a flood in the basement, but I still have the original receipt. I have photos available.

  According to The Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson, the 617 was made without the full underlug in limited production in 1991. The standard full lug early 617 with fluted cylinder and combat grips will bring from $400.00-$550.00. I suspect if your revolver is in excellent shape it would bring a premium near or over that. There are a couple of S&W web sites that could give you a ballpark figure,and would be very interested in it.
