AR15 RECOIL SPRING AND BUFFER

I READ SOMEWHERE THAT THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE YOU CAN USE INSTEAD OF THE RECOIL SPRING AND BUFFER. I THINK IT WAS A HYDRAULIC BUFFER? ANYONE HAVE INPUT? IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE BETTER(LESS RECOIL).

    It's only good for machine guns, to slow down the rate of fire.
    If I rememeber correctly they are out of the XM-177's and the 9mm M16's, price was around $200ish plus.
    Last one I saw was on the Subguns.com board

    $95 for a hydraulic buffer, thats a damm good price.
    Sorta useless on a semi-auto although.

    Why would it be useless on a semi-auto? It is designed to slow down the travel of the bolt so that you don't get as much recoil. They work great in SA.

    IMHO, hydraulic buffers are only worth the investment if you wish to control muzzle rise in full-auto fire. Recoil of a semi-auto AR type isn't really an issue, and therefore not worth the money, unless maybe if you're long range bullseye shooting.

    My standard range demo to display the low recoil impulse of an AR type is to fire several rapid fire rounds with the butt placed against my mouth. With the M16 I follow this up by quickly firing the remainder of the magazine full-auto with the butt placed in my crotch. It's a graphic/convincing display of this rifle's light recoil that people tend to remember.

    Too much investment to cure a nonexistent problem.

    Their buffer weights are different from the standard rifle, but they're not hydraulic.
