Para ordinance warthog
I have given some serious thought on purchaseing the para warthog.
Has anyone here shot this firearm, and can you tell me the pros ans cons.

I have had one since they came out.I can think of no cons for this gun. I have owned many 1911 types. This ranks right up there with the Kimbers, Wilsons and others. I have owned all of them.I once had a Para Ordnance compact and it was not a very reliable firearm .I even had Gunsite work on it and it was still not very good.So, I took a chance when I bought the Warthog. It will chamber, eject all types of ammo. Hollow points,semi wadcutters included.It also is very accurate for a short barreled gun.The sights are more than adequate and the finish both inside and outside is excellent.Some of my friends that have fired it wanted to buy it but I said they had better get their own.A couple of them have and have the same feeling as I.Sure hope this helps you. Oh yes, and the recoil is not any worse than say a Commander type gun. 0 -
I have one and I think it is a really great pistol.
Fit and finish are excellent and as stated above the accuracy is quite suprising for such a short barrel.
However, I do have an issue with the trigger pull. Mine and everyone I have fired (4 other new pistols purchased by other range members)all have had heavy triggers out of the box. A few hundred rounds and they are still (to me) heavy, not as bad as when new, but adjustment is needed to get the letoff down to (what I feel) is a more reasonable level.
I suspect that this may be somewhat due to "lawyer gun design". A pistol that will primarily be a personl defense gun needs (in the mind of the lawyer) to have a heavy trigger.
I bought a SA micro, when it came in I took it out of the box to inspect it at the dealers, the slide to frame fit was horrible. Dealer had one other that had come in, he opened that box and it was a poor fit too. He was major embarrased, offered a full refund and told me that the other customer was going to be advised to not take delivery of his pistol either. I agreed to his returning my pistol for another one, but I made it clear that I would not take the original one back after rework. About 10 days later I get a call from the dealer. He sent them both back and (from what he says) SA replaced them after some back and forth with the distribuitor and the distribuitor w/ SA. When the pistols came in he inspected them, and found basically the same problem ... not as bad as either of the originals, but still not good. Dealer told me he returned those two and he won't be selling the micro until the quality improves.
I then tried the Kimber and fortunately this shop had a demo piece. The pistol was well maintained and the shop said it probably had 600-700 rounds through it. The fit was nice and it handled good. Accuracy was about what I expected ... little better maybe. But, I had a mixed bag of ammo to try it with and it was a little fussy about what you fed it. Shop said that this was not uncommon with the pistol. I thanked them, but told them I wanted something a little more ammo tolerant. Owner told me that he was out of stock on the Para's, but he had some on backorder and he had ordered 2 more than he had orders for. He said that everyone that had bought one off of him really liked them and that if I bought one from him and I didn't like it he would give me a refund and keep it as a demo. Only provision was that I had to test it the day I came to get it (before it left the shop).
When the pistol came in I unpacked it, broke it down, wiped the factory lube off and lightly relubed, reassembled and went to the shop's range area. All I could fault was the trigger!
Well it's been kinda long response to your question, but the pistols are not cheap so I thought it worth the long play version.
Buy one, break it in and get the trigger setup for your preference. Then enjoy it!
Shot pretty darn good with the heavy trigger, shoots even better now!

I've fired one.
The round grip makes it kind of like a little brick (in a good way).
Fat grip means recoil isn't nearly as bad as you think it might be.
Pros: Its a tiny 1911. . .and it holds 10 rounds!
Cons: Its a tiny 1911. . .and it costs $900.0
