1852 Flintlock
I have an 1852 Flintlock in MINT condition that I am trying to find out its insurance and replaceable value, and any other information I can find out about it. All I know is that it is either from Spain or Afghanistan. Can anyone help ???

An 1852 flintlock what? A detached flint lock? A pistol? A long gun? There are a lot of good guessers here on GB but they need some useful clues - such as photos (as mentioned above). In general Spanish guns are rarely dated and if a date appears on a gun from the middle East, dated in readable Western figures, it will be on a lock that was surplus from some European source and assembeld into a gun in Afghanistan, Persia, Araby or whatever. Those guns are worth very little unless highly decorated to become an object of art - and then only a fraction of the value of an European art piece. 0 -

Cap & Ball had been around for what, 30 years, I think, maybe more! Who would still be making flintlocks in 1852?

Sorry, new to this and didnt think about more in depth info. It is a rifle, apx 5 foot long and very decorated with what "my guess" is mother of pearl.
As for pics. I have them but cannot seem to download them to this site. Any suggestions ????0 -

Don't mean to throw cold water on your expectations, re your flintlock. It's hard to assess anything sight unseen, "BUT" a lot of the tourist stuff that emanates from North Africa is decorated with "mother of pearl". Nowadays they probably use Chinese plastic, they buy in WallMart like everybody else does.
It would be best if you could post some pictures, probably this would clear-up the history and value of your flintlock.0 -

Got these instructions off one of the MilSurp sites. Hope they will help you.
First thing you need is a site to host your picture. What I mean by that is that you will need to upload your pictures to a web site that will host(display) them for you. You should not use your hard drive to host pictures for safety sake. Use www.photobucket.com to host your pictures.
After you have uploaded your pictures to the site that will host them for you(per their directions), the next thing you will want to do is go to the picture hosting site and view the picture. While you are viewing the picture, right click on it and you'll see another window that should pop up, now click on "properties" and copy the picture URL. If you know how to "copy & paste" this will be a piece of cake.
Now that you have the picture URL and your ready to post your picture. Do the following, use the following code except take out the "*" asterisk. The "*" asterisk is used here only so you can see the code. In other words if I posted the code without the "*" asterisk you will see a picture instead of the code. Anyways use this code to post your picture..
