Want a new lever gun, some suggestions plz!

Hello everyone, I am going to buy a used lever gun, probably in .30-30, but my question was which one should i get? I have been looking at winchester 94's lately, are they good guns, reliable, can be tooken apart and cleaned with out the pain that a model 88 is, are they fairly accurate? What other lever gun would be good? It will be used as a deergun, but i have been looking at the 94's just wanted some input on those and was wondering what other guns would be good...thanx!

    I like the 94's unless you want to put a scope on it. in that case i would go with the marlin even though a scope can be mounted to a 94 i just don't like it.

    marlin 336 hands down. side eject. scopes mount easy.

    I've owned both the winchester and the marlin , the winchester does have the feel no way around it, but for useing a scope the marlins the one( i presently own a marlin)

    my opinion it has a stronger reciever, side eject, and better feel. some of the new winchesters feel "cheap"

    This may be slightly off subject but I like the 9410, I just wish they made a modern-day 12 gauge in a lever action

    Have shot many of both. I prefer the marlins as well. I dont konw from frist hand experience but I have heard that the newer 94 arent that great.

    I agree with the Marlin....but in .35 Remington or my favorite, the .45-70.

    The marlin is the easiest to disassemble and clean.Just be sure to put the ejector back in.:)
    Heavier than the Winnys',but sturdier too,IMHO.
    If yo're gonna shoot cast bullets try to fine a non microgroove model.Not a biggy but a good way to go for cast.I hear micros can shoot cast,but I also hear they ain't the greatest.YMMV.

    Savage 99 is the best of the lever actions that were made in 30/30 but they are getting hard to find in very good condition in that caliber. Mounting a scope was never a problem on the 99. The Marlin is right there with the 99 though. You wouldn't go wrong with either. It is getting hard to find replacement parts for the 99 now. Jim

    I own an original 1873, a pre 64 94 30-30 & post 63 32 spc, marlin 1895 in 45/70 & 44mag, and am looking at a Puma in 454 casul. I have owned many others including brownings and savages. Main thing is find one YOU like and fits YOU and YOUR needs. What others like may not be to your liking. If you are dead set on 30-30, you can not go wrong in the Marlin 336 series IMHO.

    For a midrange price I went with a Savage M99 in .308win at about $350. If you've got the urge and money I'd check out the new 1895 winchester copy that Browning has out.

    If you like the 30-30 and want a lever, why not move up a notch and get a Browning in 308?

    Then you'll look down on all the others!

    if you happen to want a Browning in 308 , I can pass on a shop that just took in a pair of them , real nice shape even have 2x7 leupolds on them

    I had a .32 Special in model 94 Winchester. It was OK. Most dangerous gun I ever owned though. I would NEVER recommend a lever action over a bolt unless you wanted the cowboy look. They certainly are Americana.

    No mention of a Browning BLR here which surprises me. Gonna cost you more than the others but its worth it. Also you can get one in 3006, 308. 270, 243 so you have a wide range of choices but not .30-30 or .35 Rem.. Second choice of make would be a used 99 Savage . Marlin third choice and Win fourth .
