    DOES ANY HAVE ANY INFO ON 30-06 ARGENTINE, HEAD STAMP 1959. I KNOW ITS 150 GRAIN BALL. MAIN QUESTION IS HOW DOES IT SHOOT, ANY PROBLEMS WITH MISS FIRES OR SQUIBB LOADS.ANY INFO,SUCH AS A FAIR PRICE PER ROUND WOULD BE HELPFULL.

    It sounds like Lake City 1966 ball ammo. Either way US ammo made in the 1960's is all non-corrosive. The red ring is a sealer used to keep the ammo waterproof. It also helps prevent oil from getting in. Oil is instant death to primers.

    bpost1958 is right. Any US military ammo made by the government after about 1954 is non-corrosive. Except for one or two years of FA Match ammo. You probably have LC (Lake City Arsenal) ammo made in 1969. If so it will be marked LC 69, LC on the top and 69 on the bottom of the base of the cartridge. I am trying to answer this from memory but I think I am right on the year that the final change-over was made on corrosive ammo at the arsenals. The manufacture marks are correct. Jim

    It's the brass strippers that make me wonder, thought those went out after WW I? Do they have a little tab on the ends?

    I'm looking at a LC .50 BMG round, with L C top so it eads right the numbers are 9 1 lower. Lake City '91 as the round looks too good to have travelled through a time machine to be a '16, well before JB designed the round.

    If LC 69, this is the very last (and it was a special contract) arsenal '06 produced. Even LC 66 is late. Not corrosive and as good as it gets for milsurp '06, as this was intended for match shooting.

    The strippers are odd. That is *not* consistent with the ammo dates - the '06 from the 1960s was simply put in boxes w/o strippers or Garand enblocs.

    But, hey, elmer, if you are nervous about shooting these rounds, I can think of about a zillion guys who would be willing to take the risk. One of them goes by the moniker of "Iconoclast!" [:D] Hell, I'll pay the freight!

    Heck I shoot it all.It is over in a flash.Then to finish the day at the range, I fire several hunting rounds with modern loading to help with the cleaning and get out the rod and finish the job.Very near painless way to do it.modoc
