Glock 20/Lasermax problem

I just bought a Pre- finger groove/rail Glock 20 10mm and a Lasermax for it. The laser came in box and is the correct model for the pre-FGR G20 (LMS-1151P). I tried out the exact G20 and Lasermax already installed in a local gunshop, but the G20 had bad holster wear on the slide, so I bought a different G20, and a Lasermax seperatly, but the switch is VERY hard to operate and sometimes the laser doesn't turn on even when the switch is forced on.

Retracting the slide about 1mm frees up the switch. Also, when I drop the stock guide rod in, leaving the Lasermax takedown switch and spring in, the takedown/switch still operates VERY stiff...is that normal.
