Linseed vs. Lin Speed
I have always refinshed with linseed oil (boiled) and just recently tried lin speed. I cannot get used to the fast dry time and Im wondering if it will give as deep (and lustrious) of finish since it dries so fast. I have the patients for linseed but if there is something better???? thanks for all the help.

I prefer a Linspeed finish because of the fast drying agent. I use it when I can find it. Can you tell me a good place to buy it? I think it gives a nicer finish than regular boiled linseed oil. I also have a hard time waiting for the regular oil to dry. 0 -

Linspeed is linseed oil highly refined to remove the "foots" the components of the linseed oil that prevent it from ever truly drying. I much perfer linspeed for gun stock finishing. 0 -

If you like the time, (and don't mind it ) to do a good job with linseed oil, you
will have to try the new AFRICAN EXPRESS from Brownells. It will take about the same drying time as Linseed but it is awesome when finished. It seems like you can reach into it for ever. truly cool stuff !!!!!!!!!!

I think that is the difference I see in Them. with linseed you can look into the finish and see it. With lin-speed it seems like any other "top coat" Quick finish. I really want to believe there is a way to get a truely "deep" oil finnish QUICK. But I have not seen a quick fix to a Slow Oil Finnish. 0
