Round butt & square butt

I have a 629 S&W 44 mag 4" ss N frame Round butt. What's the difference between the the sq. & round butts?

  The shape of the frame at the bottom rear part of the grip area is different. You can keep round butt grips on it, buy conversion grips that make it look and feel like a square butt, or get square butt grips and add a small piece of wood to adapt them. The main purpose on the N frame for round butt is the availability of more grip sizes.
