bobski! help me please..........

I need some input on a Hi Standard model b short bbl w/ thread protector. About 85 - 90% (i think that is a generous estimate). Just ballpark Worth? Was the bbl orig. intended for a suppressor? Are they servicible? Can one still find parts for them? Any input, info, or just fascinoma would be appreciated before I make up my mind on this purchase. Thank you in advance oh hi standard guru. db

    You did not say how much the model B was so I don't know if it is a good deal. They didn't come with threaded barrels, so that would not be original. What kind of take-down does it have? A type IA has two levers on the left side of the pistol and a round button sticking out the back of the slide. The IB has the same two levers on the left, but the button sticking out the back is a rectangul(sp?). There were less than 15,000 of them made with a Type IB, so they bring a slight premium. The type II has a safety lever on the left, a take-down lever on the right and a take-down button on the top of the slide. Blue book claims $525 at 100% and $200 at 90% with a $75 premium for the Type IB take-down. Because the barrel is thread, it has pretty much destroyed it's collective value, but it would still be a good shooter. Parts are still available from Numrich or from other Hi-Standard collectors. If it were up to me I would not pay much more than $175 for this gun, but I have a silencer for it, and that threaded barrel would be a plus to me. I hope this helps.     does it have any u.s. markings at all? does it have any extra gizmo to lock the slide closed, not open? some of those guns were used by the O.S.S. as hit guns. (precurser to the secret service.) very simple and relibale gun. 200.00 would be a nice offer.
