clearfield scope
never heard of them but i bought a remington 22-250 made in 1967 like new and it had a clearfield 3-9 on it..the person said he bought the scope over 20 years ago..anyone ever heard of them and are they any good..it seems to be of good quality...thanks for your help...tom

I find nothing on this one anywhere. My guess is that it was a scope made for one of the department stores at a modest price. Likely not valuable but may be a reliable scope. 0 -

thanks again..i have called alot of scope people also and nothing...also i normally can find stuff on anything online but in this case its nothing...one more thing...the front and rear of the scope are round but when you look through it its shaped like a rectangle..different...tom 0 -
Toolman, that sounds a lot like some of the TV screen scopes Redfield made a while back. As I recall the oculars on those were sort of rounded rectangular, but that likely would not be required for the lenses. If it is a Redfield, it would have been a decent scope for it's day, though probably not collectable. While the older scopes simply are not the optical equals of even ecomomy scopes today, they are often durable and it is neat to have a period scope on older rifles. Certainly a lot of them work as well today as they did 40 years ago. 0 -
CHC---Clearfield Hardware Company, Clearfield Pa.
These were made for CHC (imported)
I sold lots of them back in the 70's not a bad scope at all, just was not expensive.
CHC was a sporting goods distributer back when.

Yes, Clearfield Hardware Company, practically in my back yard. Imported Japanese scopes, private-labeled for CHC, looked a lot like Tasco, and were popular in this area because of the extensive distribution by Clearfield Hardware. 0 -
I myself always liked the "Widefield" by Redfield. I was very surprised to find one made by Tasco and also a "Micro-Trac" by Weaver.

thanks for all the great info..pa shootist..i tried to call a few hardware stores in clearfield...no luck..is c h c still in business... they really seem to be a quality scope..also like the c h c monogram on top...thanks again for the info...c h c clearfield 3-9 wideview..tom 0
