.45 ACP Revolver?
My father in-law has a Taurus 455SH4. This is a .45 ACP Revolver. Anyone have any thoughts about revolvers that use auto (rimless cartridges). I'm familiar with moon clips, and Remington had at one time a .45 Auto Rim but this is no longer avalible. Would this be a good home defense / cc revolver or would it be best to stick to a rim cartridge revolver.

There is nothing wrong with moon clip revolvers, most all of your competition shooters use moon clip fed revolvers. I have them in 40 S&W, 10mm, 38/357, & 45 acp. They are among my favorites.

Nothing wrong with using the moon clips--I used them for years while shooting bowling pin matches. I could reload using moon clips about as fast as I could with magazine 1911's. I never lost a match to a 1911 with my S&W Model 25 that I could blame on the reload difference between the two. One thing for sure, they do not jam as a magazine fed pistol can. 0 -
IMHO moon clips were one of the best things to happen to the basic revolver design. I only wish I had a .45acp revolver.

It would be an execellent home defense weapon escpically if hornady tap, or corbon rounds are used. I have a gun like the one you are talking about, and reloading is as fast as a beratta or 1911a1. It does not matter if you use half or full moon clips(I personally would use full moon clips). However there exists a possibility of you getting .45 auto rim cartridges which as the name suggests that it has rim for exactly this type of firearm. But I would still prefer the full moon clips as relaoding is much faster. 0
