Ted Williams 300 vs. Winchester 1400

Everything I have read states that Ted Williams 300 parts are compatible with Winchester 1400 Parts, except the butt stock. Has anyone tried to modify a Winchester stock to fit the Ted Williams? If it's just a matter of a little sanding or grinding, I'm williang to try it.

  Bab, The problem is that the stock/receiver inletting is very different between the two guns that you reference. If you try to fit a Winchester 1400 butt stock to a Ted Williams 300 receiver, you are trying to put a 'V-notched' buttstock end into a flat or squared end receiver. Look up some pictures of those two guns on the internet, and look at how different the receiver end (and corresponding butt inletting) is shaped. You are welcome to try and retrofit one, but I don't think it will ever snug up super tight (to the receiver) to your satisfaction. It most likely will end up kind of wobbly due to the major amount of modifying to the inletting that would be neccessary. It certainly isn't an impossible task, but it seems like you would be much better off just locating a used stock. There are alot of those Sears Ted Williams shotguns out there yet. It just takes a little patience to track down someone who is willing to 'part' one of them out. Good luck.
