Browning A5 20 Ga

I have a 20 ga. A5 s/n 5Z 95855 would like to know the date of mfg.It has a gold trigger, on the receiver it has "TWENTY" not light twenty. Is this a light twenty, I always thought the gold trigger meant it was a light. I have looked at all the books and can not find the meaning of the 5Z prefix. Thanks

    Hi the year is 1965 and the Z refers to a standard wieght twenty gauge if it was a light twenty it would be spelled out ""light thwenty "" on the side of the receiver Lee

    Thanks, I was confused, I thought all the light 20's had it spelled out on the receiver. This one just has TWENTY

    Poodley - Agreeing with Bobski, Belgian 1965 Light 20 - do you suppose your receiver has been buffed hard and reblued, obliterating the word "Light"? "Light Twenty" ought to appear on the port side of your receiver (that's "left" if you have the gun shouldered properly) I was thinking perhaps you were picking up the "20" from the barrel.

    Hello...

    I do not believe that all of the Light Twenty A5s were marked "Light Twenty" on the left side of the receiver. Mine which is a 1962 vintage (2Z) is not marked that way either, and it is 100% factory original (95%+ graded condition). It may be that those that were manufactured in the early to mid 60s were marked differently.

    No the gun has not been reblued it is in almost 100% cond. all that is on the receiver is TWENTY. Thanks

    for peace of mind, if everything is original to the gun, weigh it. tell me what the wt is and i will open the 1965 browning catalog and tell you the wt that is posted in the brochure. i'll need to know the length of the bbl and if it has a rib or not.[:D]
