Firestorm semi-auto handgun quality?
Went to a gunshow today and a lot of the dealers had Firestorm semi-auto handguns for sale in .40 and .45 caliber. Never heard of this brand before and was wondering if the quality is any good? They look like nice guns, but I would like to hear from someone who has owned one. Most of you who have read any of my posts know that I own Beretta's, Glocks, Sigs, and Springfield Armory handguns. I don't think a Firestorm is going to be the quality of those guns, but I was just curious. They were selling like hot cakes at the show and the dealers were saying they're a great gun ( of course they'll say just about anything to sell you a gun whether its true or not.) So, if you have an opinion good or bad, let me have it! Thanks,9mm

If Im not wrong they are made by Bersa. From what Ive read here, people seem to like them. If you get a hold of jsergovic I think he owns one and can give you a better review!! If you do a search for them here, there is some info - I think I was after the same question a while back and found there were some posts about them...

dano1- Did a search like you said and found plenty of previous posts concerning Firestorm handguns. It was about 1/2 for and 1/2 against. They either loved them or had them jammed all the time and one actually fell apart. Some said "junk" and some loved them ( joker even said and I quote "I consider them way above Beretta's" ) I really have a problem with that statement. My Beretta's have never jammed or mis-fired even after 1,000's of rounds were fired through them. I put 8,000 rds, through my 9mm 92FS and only had to replace the barrel because the rifling was about all gone and the accuracy started to get bad. Put a new barrel on it and its still going strong! I don't want a gun that might jam on me when I need it, so I think I'll pass on a Firestorm. I'll just save up some more money and buy a small framed Glock. I still say that you get what you pay for. I don't want to confront the bad guy someday and here my gun go "click" instead of "BANG". I kind of even like the Taurus PT145 & the PT140. Anybody got an opinion on them? Thanks guys, 9mm

It was my understanding that Firestorm evolved from Llama; whether or not either is related to Bersa I don't have a clue.
I have a parkerized .45 Firestorm that works well.

Firestorm basically handles both Bersa and Llama guns. The single action-1911 guns are Llamas, the double action guns are Bersa. I own a Bersa Thunder380 and like it alot. It has never had any problems. They have a lifetime warranty, which, I believe, Firestorm also offers. The price is good, they are accurate, and I hear customer service is good. No, they're not Barretas, but they are good, affordable guns.

You have to take in consideration where you are{ as in here}people that love them probably own them, people that hate them probably less than half have even held one in there hands never owned or shot one, and are just relaying information they read somewhere else
I have had a Beretta {s} since the late 80's, and have had them jam, I had such a malfunction during a classifier match last month I had to shoot it over, does it mean they are junk? ,of course not, but I would grab my 1911 first if I needed one0 -
I owned the Firestorm Mini .40S&W in Nickle. Got a good deal on it; $250, and it was unfired. I ran 15 mags through it, and had just one FTF, in the second mag (stiff mag spring?).
I sold it because I thought it was a little thick for carry, but it was a nice little double stack.
A forum member carries one, and usually comments. He just chimed up a few days ago in the General Forum.0 -
I bought a Firestorm standard model years back because it was cheap, I was curious, and it had a 'lifetime warranty'. Yep, most feedback is 50/50. I have around 1200+ rounds through this one, and it feels like it. The material is not great for wear (unless that is what you want). It is still going, but it needs a stiffer mainspring (I used the one off of my SA1911A1 just to see, and it quieted some of the 'rattling'). It still shoots respectably, but I do think I got one of the better ones.

I picked up a Firestorm in .40 cal, nickel plated for $200 a few months ago. I figured I didn't have a .40 cal and for $200 I could always sell it. My Firestorm .40 shoots great and is very compact. I have seen the same gun new in store for $400, not sure I would pay that for this gun, but for $200 or $250 oh yeah. Now the finished isn't as good as Beretta or Sigs, but they are nice guns. If I could pick another one up in .45 or 9mm for the same money I would.

I bought my son a 1911 Firestorm for his birthday earlier last month. We fired approximately 500 rounds through it since then. The gun functioned very well and shot accurately.
This past weekend we were out shooting and the extractor pin broke or fell out. A new one costs $1.00, so it's not a major deal, but it pisses me off that it broke at all. Otherwise it has been a satisfactory pistol.

After reading the responses in my question, I have made my decision. When I get to the range if it feels good in my hand, I'll probably buy one. That range's owner uses a .38 firestorm for his carry, and he's how I found out of their existence. He said, "One nice this is, if you shoot someone with it (in selfdefense, of course), they'll take the gun away. It'll sit there in an evidence locker, uncleaned and uncared for. So why have my couger at three times the price, go through neglect when I could use a Firestorm with a lifetime warranty?" That spoke volumes to me and made perfect sense.
