M1 Garand Blue sky rebuilt any knowledge
I have a Blue sky arsenal stamp on barrel has sept 42 visable with bolt back 6 digit serial no. starts with 7 and reciever is springfield any one with knowledge on this weapon as far as quality or history info appreciated. jiminmissouri@sbcglobal.net thanks

Martin............. Blue Sky is not an arsenal but an importer. Many M-1's were lend leased to other countries after WWII and Korea.
These rifles years later found their way back into the US as imports but had to be stamped with the importers name, Blue Sky was one of them.
Springfield Armory was one of the makers of USGI Garands along with Harrington Richardson, Winchester, International Harvester, I have several Springfields and an H&R, they are excellent rifles.
The guns stamped with importers names are worth less to collectors, but if you are only looking for a shooter its not a big deal.

The serial number indicates your rifle was manufactured in July or August 1942. At that time barrels could have been made as much as 3 months earlier than the rifle was manufactured, but not later. So, your barrel is most likely a replacement.
The Koreans used their rifles hard, & their "armorers" often abused them. It is a good idea to have it checked out by a gunsmith.
The only other information that you may possibly be able to find about your rifle is by checking the Springfield Research Service data base.

I have one and my father has one. Like stated above, they are not collector pieces but they will shoot as good as the average shooter. 0
