Need Help:Remington M- 48 Mohawk problem

My M-48 12 Ga Mohawk's bolt won't stay latched open when I pull it back. Any ideas what may be causing the problem? Thanks for any help.

    timing. drop the trigger group and ensure the hammer locks into the sear. put it in. pull trigger. cycle. is it cocking? bolt and flapper arm plus those rails are off. did it just start happening or been like this? did you assemble it right? got all the foream rings right? it may be effecting the throw of the cocking arm.

    It cocks fine and will fire OK. The bolt fails to lock in the open position. I just bought the gun; it came with the problem.I paid $70 for it and knew it needed some work. I cleaned it, took out the trigger group but so far can't find the problem Thanks for your suggestions. I'll keep checking.

    Check to make sure there is spring pressure on the release button? That spring maybe missing?

    ok, check the release button itself . it may be worn off inside and it isnt catching anything.

    There isn't a spring on the release button. That might be the problem. I'll try fixing that next. Thanks to all who replied.

    I finally found the problem. The carrier dog is broken off and is also missing a spring, pin, and washer. After I get the parts it should be a simple fix. Thanks again for your help.

    TWalker you will enjoy that Mohawk 48
    although it is not Gas operated

    The parts from Numrich Arms came in the mail today. It took less than 15 minutes to repair. Everything is working great now. Total cost of gun and parts: $105. Not too bad for a Remington autoloader, even if it is recoil operated.
