Help with Navy Victory .38
Carolina-Girl has a Naval S&W M/P up for auction. I'm only somewhat educated on the model's history and need your help. Looks like no Ordinance acceptance (initials) and not "s" modified for hammerblock upgrade. What's the likelihood I can find a better Naval version? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

According to this site, there were ( 2 ) U.S. Navy contracts for the S & W Victory Model. Unfortunately no specific numbers or serial numbers are given as to how many were produced/marked for the Navy.

Even though there were over 300,000 produced during the war years for the various military and security services I doubt that many of the U. S. Navy marked ones have survived. If the price is right for the one on the auction and it's in original condition buy it. Hopefully you can upgrade your collection to a original U.S. Navy Victory sometime in the future. This is what I use to do when I was collecting many years ago.
