Winchester 52C Model #s ?
What is the differents between the models G5252R and the G5272R, They are both refered to as 52 Sporters in the C series. Also what year was S/N 90xxxC made? I can't find the info in Herbert Houze book.

I can't tell you the difference but the year of manufacture is 1956.

Found it! The G5252R was a Model 52 Sporting Rifle 24" barrel with a Lyman 48F Receiver Sight and a Lyman Gold Bead Front Sight, The G5272R was a Model 52 Sporting Rifle with a 24" barrel without a front or rear sight. SNICKERS- THANKS! for the year it was produced! Were did you find the date? I looked in all my books and zero.... Thanks again!

I found the date in the Madis Winchester Dates of Manufacture. It's a book I got from George Madis in 1984 at the Cody Museum. He just happened to be their doing a signing of his books when we stopped on our way to Yellowstone. I bought a copy of every one of his reference books and he signed them all for me. Just another day my wife was more than a little put out that I managed to spend all day at Cody. Oh well it's been 39 yrs and she still lets me stay in her house.
