.44 mag SAA

does anyone make a colt saa or copy in .44 rem mag

have always liked the caliber and the gaping oper muzzel of the .45 SAA but was wondering ianyone made it in a more powerfull/common round?

    Well yuo could always get a Ruger Vaquero or SBH in .44. Not exactly a Colt clone, but close.

    I agree with Bill. The Vaquero is probably as close as you'll get to a .44 mag. SAA. The Uberti Cattleman was also available in this caliber, but the Ruger's frame is a little beefier and it's based on the Blackhawk which is easily strong enough to handle the pressure.

    i know that there are SAA in 44-40, is there a major reason othere than the preassure generated by the mag round that makes it unable to be fired out of a standard SAA?

    I have a Ruger Vaquero stainless 7 1/2" in .44mag and a Colt SAA blued 4 3/4" in .44spl.

    They are both very nice guns, of course Colts are about two to three times the price of a Ruger. Both are very popular in Cowboy shooting.

    Do you NEED another reason? The .44 Mag would demolish a Colt SAA. The similar revolvers offered in this caliber use a combination of better metallurgy and/or a beefed-up frame.
    The overall length of the .44 Magnum is 1.61 inches, the OAL of the .45 Colt is 1.60 inches, so cylinder length shouldn't be a problem.

    the eaa bounty hunter has been able to digest all my old handloads thet make your ears ring

    I can shoot with the best of them, but hit that is something else
