Class 1 Form Question

I would like a semi auto short barreled rifle. I have been told that I can fill out a Form one to do this. Who has the specifics on this so I do not get into trouble with the Law. Thanks. [8D]

    Contact the BATFE. They can get you the forms. Prepare to spend some bucks and jump through many hoops. Similar to getting a full-auto. Pass the test, pay the "tax", play the game.

    m.j.ryan:I have the forms I am loking for some one who has jumped through the form one hoop and can give me some pointers. Do I have to have a spec diagram for the unit? What speicifations are required? The money I know about but it is cheaper than buy a full auto and i really do not want a full auto. Thaks for the reply. [8D]

    Easy.....
    Type = "SBR" short barrelled rifle or "SBS" Short barrelled shotgun

    Barrel length - put in the length of barrel you want to use.
    If you want to use various lengths of uppers 10" 14" etc.
    use the phrase "Shorter than 16 inches"

    Overall length - put in the know fixed length with the barrel on.
    If your going to various uppers use the phrase "7.5 inches to 21 inches" this phrase has you covered in all conditions

    Manufacture - Is the brand of the reciever

    Special Markings - This is going to be YOUR OWN id that you will have engraved on the weapon, also the City & State of where you reside.
    I used "S/N W001
    "Walte Mfg."
    "OKC OK"

    Caliber - what ever size you want 223, 308
    If your again are going to use various uppers put them in that space.
    I used ".22,.223.308,9mm,50BMG"

    Remember that you also have to do the compliance of citizenship form also! Otherwise they will send it back.

    Get leo sign off, BATFE fingerprint cards, 2 color pics of your mug, & send in with $200 personal check, then wait.
    Wait time is now 4-6months because they are in the process of moving.

    PS - Keep in mind that you cant go any shorter, but you can allways go with a longer barrel than stated on the form 1.
    Thus go for the very shortest that you think that anyone would ever want, making it easier to re-sell later down the road.
    That is why I list my barrelled uppers at "shorter than 16 inches", this will allow all barrel varitions 3.5 inch thru anything shorter than 16inches.
