03 Springfield original What kind of value

1943 Bolt action 03, what kind of value could I put on one, carried by one marine, retired with it, and is in excel shape.

  why would you sell it. The 03-a3 is a fine rifle.But I have seen them goin for $700 or so with all cartouches,all original

  That was one lucky marine. When I got out they took all government property back, and would have kept me in the brig until I gave it back.

  Ross is right. When you go to sell it, there's no need to mention that it is stolen, as a few folks still are reluctant to buy or receive stolen property. However, there's no need to worry, as the FBI does not prosecute anyone for stealing or possessing WWII rifles & pistols.
  
  Without a detailed description of the rifle, I'd estimate it's value is between $25 and $1,000.

  The government probably wouldn't prosecute the individual's in possession of "liberated"/stolen firearms from the usmc/usarmy/navy but they will confiscate them as they are still property of the U.S. Government regardless of how long ago they were "liberated". I personally would like to see the day that the government would allow any combat veteran the option of taking home the rifle he used in combat with him as a gift from a grateful government(but it will never happen).

  The CMP is selling them for $400.00. I've seen some really nice ones from them.
  
  It could help, and certainly wouldn't hurt the value, if you could get the old Marine to document it was actually his rifle.
