Yugoslavian AK-47

Have an AK-47 factory underfolder made in Yugoslavia at Zastava Kraujevac and imported by Mitchell Arms. Where it had been stamped model AK-47, it has been roughly scratched out and just as roughly scratched in M-90. Have heard this was done in order to be allowed importation. Gun is in excellent condition with wood grip and forend. Also has original bayonet. Serial number 007585. Could the experts give me a fair value of the weapon. Thanks as always, B.C..[:p]

    My price guide + your description = around $1200, maybe a bit higher.
    The only factor you list that detracts from NRA Excellent Condition (and a $2000 price tag) is the scratched-out AK47 designation (actually the Yugoslavian model designation is the M70) and M90 scratched-in.

    Thanks for the info. The gun belongs to a friend who wants to sell it to me. He has paper work saying something to the fact that these were the last pre-bans that were alowed into U.S. without major modifications(approximatly 500?)

    Artvls, I'd really love to see a pic or scan of that Shotgun News ad!

    bigcountry, I have the same weapon. Of our versions, there were 1000 AK47 m-90s brought in with modifications (apparently not all were modified in the same way). There were 400 preban underfolders marked AK47 that Customs allowed before the ban.

    As for value, I considered selling mine and got some good responses. $1200 would be a steal in my opinion.

    SeanG, they don't show the yugo in the last (april 10) issue, it is shown in the april 1 issue, and I have seen it advertised in earlier issues. You've got to realize that with the end of the AWB americanized versions of post ban imports are starting to hit the market and with the end to sanctions againist former Yugoslavia, Yugoslavian stuff is hitting the market. I sold a yugo stock and grip a year ago for $160, I don't think I could get that for it now. If I had the time I could scan it and post the add on a host site, I never tried that before.

    Hey Dennis,
    I went out and bought the May 2nd issue. You may have seen my post on Gunsnet about it. They show an AK pistol, but don't say its a Yugo. I see the underfolder shown, which is of Yugo parts. When I called, the guy said the only Yugo he had was that underfolder, and it was $699... not the $529 advertised...

    Someone replied to my thread on Gunsnet and had a similar experience when he called them.

    Nevertheless, I'd like that UF for $529, but I think I'll wait for the new receivers designed for the Yugos. I have a parts kit coming in tomorrow. Thanks,

    I didn't bother to call military gun supply. To build a parts kit on a US receiver and then call it a yugo is bit miss leading.

    I also order one of the centerfires parts kits, got the shipping notice the other day, should see it next week.

    SeanG and the rest, thanks for the info. I know you can probably get all parts needed to make a Yugo underfolder at reduced prices now, but seems to me all you would have is a parts gun.?[?]

    ...on an American receiver with US parts. What are the possibilities of having Yugo receivers come in?
