Mauser P-38 sources for info?
Once again, from sunny Florida (cloudy & rain right now) [8D],
I've got a P-38 on auction and I am not a collector of anything except dust. As an FFL I look for a good deal and this was a purchase that had merit....so.....I buy this Mauser (Walther) from a lody over 80 and she tells me it's a "bring back" from WWII by her late husband. I know nothing about P-38s except that I see them for sale all over the place and I get a price I feel I can make a little profit on. Apparently this model HAS VALUE and the bids are racking up....but I only want to know...the eagle on the right side of the slide is holding a figure that I can't make out with my 50 year old eyes and a magnifying glass!!?? I have read that an "L" and an "N" denote a German Police gun. Mine looks like a swastika or a "W" or something else. Any leads on where else to look, inspect etc.? There are no import marks on the pistol.

The police markings will be on the triggerguard if any. On the slide you are seeing the Waffenamt which is Eagle/Waa359 for Walther. No big deal.

If it's 135, it is a Mauser made weapon. I found no P-38 by you with a bid. Please provide a link or number for further inspection.

I was trying to locate info on a P38 recently and found this site. These folks are seriously into all the obscure variations and markings.
