Ruger M77 Mark II alert

Check your rifle to see if it has this problem

take the barrel/reciever assembly off the barrel to see if there is a large gap around your magazine if there is and someone tries to put one more shell than your magazine is designed to hold it will bend the magazine outwards thus seriously screwing up the action and the metal surrounding the action is made of cheap what seems like potmetal so it bends easily and when you contact ruger to fix this problem they want you to pay to have it fixed (happenned to me) So i took this problem into my own hands put the magazine in a vice fixed it and placed shims in to fill the airgap so this cannot happen again
If that is not faulty craftsmanship on thier part what is.

    Why would anyone put more than the correct number of rounds in a rifle magazine????

    I didnt do it a cousin did when i let him have some fun shooting it then when i went to shoot it i realized something was wrong because the action was not feeding properly the shells were getting slammed on the inside of the top of the reciever and he didnt jam it in there the box magazine was made of cheap metal.

    sorry you asked I bet.All the children answered with their smartas5 answers.Who hasn't gone to put one more round in and found it wouldn't fit. If it did barely fit but wasn't supposed to then it could be a quality control issue It happens

    thanks someone finally agrees with me on that issue i didnt mean for this to be a rant i just wanted to know if anyone else had this problem or maybe got a nasty ruger employee on the phone like i did this is the exact reason ill never buy a ruger gun again in my life.

    I remember fitting an extra round into my Mossberg .22 as a kid. The mag wouldn't lock up. Took the extra out about 40 years ago. My Mossberg still works.

    That's the point.

    you know whats funny is that the town of humbolt is only 9 miles from here thats humboldt arizona i think.

    Why, that would be me.

    If the manual says "10 rounds," I never once thought "Geez, eleven is close enough for government work."

    Guns are not toys. We can enjoy them, but if you screw around with them, they will turn on you.

    I can put that extra round in my 77 every time. Just load the chamber and hold down the ones in the mag while closing the bolt. Be careful... the gun is loaded...FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER.

    the part that gets me is this, you state you had to ---
    put the magazine in a vice fixed it---

    if you had to use a vise to fix it , then it sure couldn't have been that cheap of metal

    and as far as Ruger goes, if you talk on the phone like you write here, I can see why you might get a little run around

    We needs to be responsible if we are to own firearms. Idiots don't need to own firearms, so there is no reason to "idiot proof" any of them. As EMM states, that's what the manual is for, read it! Paraphrased, sorry Monkey.

    Does anyone know if Ruger has a comment or position on this....other than third hand information ?

    Most of Ruger stuff is good stuff....some is VERY good.

    Regarding their customer service, the ONE TIME I sent something to them (a second hand pistol) they were the best.

    I hope they are not circling the bowl for some reason.
