Okay I read the sticky on it. From what I get from it and what I have been told over the years,
shipping live ammo via the USPS is illegal.

Then my question is; if it is illegal then how are the big sellers on the auction side
getting away with shipping ammo via USPS?
They state they ship USPS and the shipping price they are giving is for Priority Mail.
I know because I know what UPS charges and there is no way I can charge $6 - $7 less to match their shipping price
on the same ammo via UPS.

I now understand why we do not sell as much ammo even though our price for the auction is within line with the rest.
Our shipping cost kills it because we ship within the law.

    What carrier(s) can I ship ammo through? Do you have to declare what is in the shipment? Just need some info on shipping laws governing ammunition. Also, I am not a FFL holder. How can I ship a firearm legally?

    This is just what I've been told, so don't hold me to it. USPS is the cheapest way to ship ammo. It is still expensive due to weight & special handling but can be done. I would contact your postmaster.

    you CAN NOT ship anything that goes 'bang' via usps. ups and fedex shippments have to be marked "orm-d" and "small arms ammo" no other markings needed or special charges apply. this is not "harardous" material, just mark the box as above and take it to you ups shipping point. if they are 'idiots' you are on your own.

    Mike is right can't ship ammo using USPS. Go to UPS/FEDEX which ever you choose and ask to speak to the manager. There is no HAZ-MAT fee for shipping ammo.
