What to do with a rifle with no number. This thing was made back about 1900. still shoots and is in good condition.

Of course I'm out of my mind. It's dark and scary in there.

    There were a lot of guns made in That Era that did not have serial numbers....You just happen to have one........

    Not all guns made prior to 1968 had serial numbers. If a number has not been removed and it was made prior to 1968, I believe it is legal. You can call BAFT and they can tell you if that type "had" a serial number or not. I had to do this with several guns in the past to assure they were legal, no problem, BAFT was very helpful.

    Yes, sonny, there was a time when every firearm (according to Webster and not NYS) wasn't thought to be possessed by the devil himself. Way back then manufacturers didn't have to place serial numbers on them so that, when they were found at the bottom of a lake, a couple hundred bureaucrats could plan their retirement tracing them back to nowhere.

    Nowadays it's different. And the numbers rarely help. But they are there, to inspire the next savior of our society, the one he created, to find another way to spit in the faces of the founders of this nation by trampling our Constitutional rights. They must be double jointed to pat themselves on the back the way they do.
