Lucky Leather ?
My wife (w/help from my dad) gave me a Ruger Super Blackhawk in 1980. It also had the leather 'fold-over flap' holster. My Dad had some kind of Silicon lube (as a spray) that claimed 15% silicone. Well, Dad just SOAKED the holster, inside and out....for how long I don't know....but it took a week in the sun for all of the petrol carrier to evaporate...even with periodic wipedowns.
Well, in error, the gun was left in the holster for over a year, in his shop...very humid and warm in S. Louisiana. When I saw it, my heart sank....but I pulled it out and IT WAS FINE.
Was I VERY LUCKY, or is there some reason that it was un-harmed.
If we do not hang together,
We will most certainly hang separately.

If I was to hazzard a guess...Perhaps the silicon displaced all of the moisture in the leather holster. 0
