cleaning 22 semi rifles

Anyone have any good methods of cleaning the action for a 22 semi. I have a marlin and thompson and was just looking for some methods that work for you all.

    If you can take the barrled action out of the stock and spray it with Gun Scrubber or Carb. cleaner.Dry it out good and lighty oil.That's how I do it. [:)] [^]

    I am also a gun scrubber user.I use alot though, and then make sure it is all the way dried out before I oil it

    Teach them young ! Teach them often !

    Do not scrub the barrel of a .22 rimfire chambered gun! You may cause more damage than good. ATF is correct. Clean your toy with gun scrubber, carb cleaner or Methel Ethel Keytone (MEK). Then wipe it off and lightly lube it with your favorite gun lube.

    Please pay attention to this warning, on some of my guns that i have used carb cleaner on, the cleaer left a purple tone to the blue. Use brake cleaner, it is cheaper and works just as well. Gun scrubber is just too expensive, you can get brake cleaner for a buck a can! and i works great! happy cleaning

    We use a mixture of mineral spirits and marvels mystery oil....but you also have a compressor to blow the parts off with. Guess it depends on what toys ya have in the garage? If you oil after use a synth. oil...won't slow down in the cold!

    I was told by a gunsmith the best thing to use on all my guns for cleaning is the aerosol brake cleaner. It is cheap, effective and dries fast. He said the one thing not to use is WD-40 on any gun. Years ago, I used to use it. He said it contains a solvent that can and will weaken springs and other small parts and over time they could break. Make sure to lightly oil the gun after using the brake ckeaner because it strips all the oil off as it cleans. I like the Rem Oil with teflon or Outers Tri-Lube with teflon.

    I just bought a Agi dvd on 1911s. Know what the supposed top gunsmith in the country uses to clean his 1911s with? Yep,,, Simple Green..Wonder cleaner of the universe. If I'm lying I'm dying!!!

    I use a bore snake on the bore, and break down the bolt and scrub with a toothbrush and Hoppes. I don't use chlorinated spray cleaners as they damage plastic sometimes.
