ROSS 1905 MILITARY WW11

THIS GUN HAS TWO TRIGGERS IN TRIGGER GUARD ONE IS BACKWARDS IN THE TRIGGER GUARD. IM TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT THE SECOND TRIGGER IS FOR IM THINKING ITS A SET TRIGGER FOR THE OTHER TRIGGER BUT NOT SURE IT WAS MADE IN QUEBEC CANADA . I NO I FOUND THE 1906 BUT NOT THE 1905 IT COCKS BY PUSHING THE BOLT IN . I THINK THE BOOK SAYS CAN BE UN SAFE TO USE. I WAS WANTING TO NO THE VALUE IF ANY NOT SURE ON CALIBER EITHER BUT IM THINKING 303 BRITISH . I CANT FIND ANY 1905 IN BOOK OR ON GUNBROKER EITHER DONT NO IF ITA A PIECE OF JUNK OR A COLLECTOR PLEASE HELP THANKS DAVE

    The "Backwards" trigger in the front part of the triggerguard, is called a "magazine cutoff". It enables the rifle to be used as a single shot, with a full magazine of ammo held in reserve.

    This was a British Military concept. There early Lee Enfields also had "Magazine Cutoffs".

    If your Ross Mark II? is factory original, it would be of considerable interest to a colector of military rifles, as it was never made in the great quanity of the later Mark III. Also the Mark II? was made in many variations over a relatively short period of time.

    My reference notes that only Mark II's have cut offs in the trigger guard. The later Mark III's had them on the receiver.
