30-30 & 30 W.C.F. Differences?

I was looking through the Antiques on the auction and got to wondering. What is the difference between the 30-30 cartridge and the 30 Winchester Center Fire cartridge? Thanks in advance for any information.

    Winchester used the term/stamping "30 W.C.F." through the year 1939, then changed it to "30-30".

    I have a post-war 94 (if needed I can put up the SN over the weekend) that's stamped 30WCF. Now it's possiable that it was assembled with a "remaining stock" barrel after the war.

    To answer the origional question, 30WCF and 30-30WIN are the same cartridge. There is also a 30REM which is also known as the 30-30REM and it is NOT the same as the WIN version (REM is rimless, WIN has a rim).

    Winchester changed the caliber roll stamp die at circa serial number 1,350,000. However, I too have seen a few Model 94s that are in the 1,450,000 - 1,500,000 serial range with the "30 W.C.F." stamp on them, but they are not common. My thoughts are the same as yours, in that Winchester was simply using up old stock. Winchester never threw away anything that was still usable. I am curious what the serial number is on yours.
