1903 experts needed

I don't have the camera to post a bad pic so here goes.

1903 Mk. 1 with Pederson cut.

Receiver matte black, dark for phosphating but doesn't look like blued.

SN 1056xxx.

Butt plate 10/inch with wear, dark phosphate like receiver but looks original finish

Stock is scant type with circle "P" where it should be, RAP stamped 5/16 height above wrist on left side, inverted D and 5 (S?) 1/8 th high followed by 5/16th "2" (all behind scant grip). Wood is walnut and no marks or evidence of sanding at band inlets, crossbolts cartouches or the last four digits of SN stamped right side. Color a good match, no finger grooves.

Bolt looks like pre war high number according to CMP manual that came with rifle (swept back with one bend). Stamp under handle mis struck and not readable. Blued and pristine except small areas including extractor where racked during cycling.

Hardware is all forged/milled, no stampings. Mag floorplate stamped "D".

Finish about 90% (conservative), bore bright showing some small pitting. Muzzle tests about 1/8 case showing with Korean ball ammo.

I realize it has been rearsenaled, based on the above what is high and low value? TIA

    Who made the receiver? If SA and serial number is below 800,000 it does not have proper heat treatment

    As stated above, it's well over a million, it's a shooter, SA made, as they all were (Mk. 1)

    Sold one pretty much like it(except the barrel was pristine) several years ago at a gun show for $450. The same rifle with a bayonet attached by the dealer was later on his display rack for $750. Last gun show attended, almost all 1903's were in the $750 - $900 bracket, while the '03A3's were from $550 - $750.

    Thanks. Paid rather dearly for this one, got my A3 shipped for $450, I'm thinking I'm ahead, this one has the Pederson cut. Still paid less than the low end for an 03 you gave me.

    I'm really quite happy with the rifle, the (replacement) stock is pristine and about as nice a piece of walnut as I've seen in a while. The rays glow in the dark and it shimmers under the light. Wish the bore was a little better but it's held up better than most humans that have got to 72 years.

    Now you've got me thinking that I should be going back to the guy who sold me my Garand for the $500 03 he had, that barrel was tight but I didn't know to look at the SN back then. Had the proper stock, too.

    It's a recent Greek return sold by CMP. The black refinish & 4 digits stamped on the stock are the give-away; because of them, it has no collector value. And, not worth much as a shooter, because, when it gets warm, the grease will ooze out of the wood (forever). I'd say it's worth $350-400.

    Well, NMeyers, I' have to ask you how many Mk. 1's have passed through your hands in your lifetime? How many 1903's? How many 1903A3's?

    The rifle looks restocked, but with a 105xxxx SN and a 33 bbl, could go either way, espeially if it don't sweat when it's hot.

    I'd really need more information, havebetter things to do than watch for my stock to sweat grease on a hot day.

    The Pedereson cut doesn't mean much on a rearsenaled rifle. One sold on GB a couple of weeks ago for around $500.00.

    You can still buy '03's, 03A3's, and '017's from the CMP, for $400.00 each.
