all my previous xperience with b/p was flintlock and quite a few years ago.
recieved a repro 1851 reb nord navy revolver in .44 cal from a suplier i deal with as a thank you gift.
it came from cabellas, but a call there did not get any answers from the "expert staff" on the proper size caps for this gun.
went up in person and the guy that was workin that night that "knew all about those" told the one that was actually helpin me to use the "caps that are in the case with the pistols" #10's
these do work but after a bit of a struggle to seat, they are just as likely to take the first hit by the hammer without fireing and on the second strike fire and split or sometimes just disintegrate.
hate to buy something that i cant use but do you think a #11 is the ones i should have?

    Hello most repo black powder will work with the #11 However expect split caps after fireing this was a problem with all blaclk power relvolvers and worst case can tie up the cyl. That is why the colt SAA was such an inprovement.

    Get the #11's and use them. I tried using some #10's cause I had some of them. It was a crap shoot when trying to fire the pistol with the #10's.

    The #11's fired every time.

    Get #ll caps. They are designed to split and disintegrate.

    thanks for the input, i can handle the splitting/disintegrateing but the mis-fires first hit drives ya nuts!
