30 Newton Ammunition?
One of the rifles in this whole collection I bought is a 30 Newton in excellent condition. Ive never seen a 30 Newton, never mind the ammo, is it still around somewhere or does someone else make 30 Ammo for this rifle.

30 NEWTON by Western, designed by Fred Adoldh in 1913. The gun ws produced by Charlie Newton, and for some reason the Cartridge was named after the gun designer, instead of the cartridge designer. Western produced the cartridge until 1938. That make these about 65 years old.
180 Grain Factory Lubaloy Hollow Point.

This cartridge is obsolete but can be made from 8x68S brass by running a piece through the 30 Newton die, trim to length and fireform in the rifle chamber. Some ammunition may still be available (above) but at extreme prices. Also named the 30 Adolph Express.

After messing up the first time I'll try again. Don't give up on the 30 Newton yet! Huntington's has the 8x68S brass, $2 ea. the last time I bought, DKT Inc has already formed brass from the same parent case @ $3 ea. last time. I load mine w/200 gr. Nosler Partition and the load is fantastic on Montana elk. Good luck.

I use to have one of these and made brass from 7mm rem. mag. brass. just run the 7mm into a .30 newton f.l. die, load with a light load and fireform, the 'belt' on the mag. case is the same (<>) as the newton base and the body just forms to fit the chamber. 0 -

The "true" 30 Newton does not have a belt.
Your thinking of the "Belted" newton, which IIRC came out after Newton's death
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.0 -
OK thanks for the info Mike, I called Farnsworth Ammo up in Northern Vt., he said he loads about 150 different obsolete & wildcat, foriegn & metric, rifle ammo reasonable, bring the gun in. $40.00 per 20 for 30 Newton.

tailguner, no - i'm talking about the standard newton. the outside of the belt on h&h type cases is the same dia. as the body of the .30 newton. what i was doing is firing a belted case in an unbelted chamber, the body was expanded to the same size as the belt in effect making the belt useless, this left a small ring in front of the belt that didn't form out all the way but it still worked ok. 0 -
