12ga shotshell blanks/poppers????
i want to make my own poppers for dog training. any info for loads and components will be appreciated. i am experienced with loading shotshells for hunting and targets. please write me. thanks.

A friend trains Labs. He uses about 1,000 blanks a month. He uses .22 power loads in a Taurus .22 revolver.
Winchester makes 12 gauge blanks, but they are expensive. I suppose you could load your own, but I have no idea where to start. The .22 blanks are cheap and make enough noise.

i dont know if it is exactly safe, but my cousin and I used to buy the cheap remington game loads and cut the tops off and dump the shot out. we were young and stupid and i think they had wads over the powder so it didn't dump out. we might have actually had to put wads over it, it has been a long time since we did it. they never killed or injured us. we were like 12 or 13 without parental supervision.

If you have a reloader why not just place a new primer in a spent shell casing and use that and that alone

I read this post hoping to learn how to do this, I have tried for years. So some don'ts:
Don't use black powder (it is used in blanks), mess!
Don't try just a wad, even fibre.
If you break down some poppers you will find a standard wad with a filler that appears like laundry detergent. I tried 700X, Clays, and other fast burning shotgun powders, little luck.
I'll follow the post and hope to learn the secret.0
