Winchester model 12--28 gauge

I have seen a Model 12, 28 gauge conversion gun on the web. It is suspose to have an original 28 gauge Winchester barrel ( skeet choke)but has a Simmons rib. It appars to be a very good conversion and all blueing is 99% with dexule field or skeet wood. Wood is 95%.

Question: Are there a lot of these guns on the market and what are they worth?

    When you say conversion, I assume you mean that it was converted from a 20 ga. to a 28 ga. There are more of them out there than a lot of people would believe. Many of them are offered for sale as a "honest" 28 ga., with the corresponding high dollar price tag.

    500.00 would be a good downpayment! regardless of if its a converted 20 into 28, they still bring very high dollar pricetags. most of those converted guns were factory done as a clean up production making them still classic pre 64 winchesters. 'only winchesters' will clock in soon and set us all straight.

    The conversions in vg condition or better have been bringing between 1200 and 1600 at auction lately

    Hello I just sold one at The LOUISVILLE gun show in Feb with non factory delux wood as you describe It sold to a dealer who knew it was non orginal 28 Ga and it went for $2850. turned down $2500 cash from 3 others the wood was 3x . If you send serial I will check and see if this was the gun or pictures . It had engin turned bolt and loading gate.

    qh...you did good. if you want to upgrade to a plate 5 skeet, let me know! i can use yours in the woods and beat it up w/o sweating![:p]
