7.62x39 single shot

Is anyone a proud owner of a EAA IZH-18MH in the 7.62x39? I think I would like to have one as a short range deer rifle. How much are they and where can a person get one?

    I'm not sure about that rifle, BUT, I bought a Ruger Model 77 7.62X39 for my son to deer hunt with a few years ago($329 NIB). Davidsons had Ruger make these and they were all black. I was amazed how accurate this gun is with cheap Russian(Wolf 154 gr. softpoints) ammo. I'd say that would be a good short range deer gun.

    EAA listed the single shot rifle in it's catalog listing, but I talked to three dealers in my area and nobody could get one. If any were imported, there wasn't alot. Now, Remington is importing the Russian rifles under the Spartan name. They are starting to bring in the single shot rifles, but 7.62x39 is not on the list. Maybe we should let Remington know we're interested.

    Just looked at the Spartans' on the website.They look nicer than a Handi for about the same money....on the site anyway.Would llke to see one up close and personal....like in my safe.[:)]
    Handi DOES have 45-70 though.[;)]
