Anybody tried a Kimber 22LR Conversion Kit?

Has anybody tried one of Kimber's 22LR conversion kits in their Kimber or other 1911? I'm thinking of buying one and putting it my Gold Match.

I am curious how they function and if they are accurate.

I would appreciate hearing about any other experiences with other manufacturers as well.

    I shot one last week ,I was very impressed ,it was on an eclipse frame ,only thing I did not like was it did not lock back after the last shot which I know is common on these type of conversions

    I have a buddy with a Kimber conversion kit and another buddy with a Marvel. My experience is the Kimber is a reliable unit with decent accuracy. The Marvel unit was also reliable, but the accuracy was superior to the Kimber.

    The Kimber unit was mounted on a Gold Match and the Marvel unit was
    mounted on a Springfield frame. I hope to purchase a conversion kit
    in the near future and based on my experience, I will be buying a
    Marvel.

    Guns only have two enemies: Rust and Liberals....

    I've got one, I liked it so well I built a dedicated a Caspian frame for it.

    The reason the slide doesn't lock back is the lever isn't long enough to engage the follower on the mag.

    I've heard the Marvel is Marvelous but the Kimber out shoots me anyway!

    Hello There is IMHO only 3 of the 22 conversions units that are Match grade all the others are great plinking guns but not match grade The three that can hold their own with S&W 41, High Standards, Etc are the DAY 30 X long out of production , the Kart / Dorwark and the Marvel These three have a way of locking the barrel to the frame MidWAY sells the Marvel.

    I have the Ciener, so far 100% reliable. No complaint about accuracy but haven't put it to a test or compared it with anything. I personally can do better with my K-22 S&W.

    Not trying to be a smart-azz, but if I wanted to shoot .22s I would just buy a .22 caliber gun.

    .22s are so inexpensive to buy (rifles and handguns) I see no reason to buy an expensive conversion kit. Plus I would have another gun for less than the cost of the conversion kit.

    Is there something wrong with my logic because an awful lot of people seem to buy conversion kits?

    Hello tr fox the nice thing about a 22 conversion unit is you can use one lower half and shoot all three sections of a N.R.A. match . or plink with just one gun to learn how to shoot and then carry with the center fire top half. some areas of the country make you register your gun and this way with a conversion unit you avoid the register paper work of 2 guns. even old DEEP POCKETS U.S. military has used them."PRAISE THE HARDBALL GUN "

    The reason for the conversion kit is exactly as Perry shooter states.

    With the Gold Match lower and a decent top half I can have extreme accuracy in either 22LR or 45 ACP. I can practice to my hearts content with 22 LR and not lose the feel of the pitol when converted to 45 ACP.

    The conversion kit is about $150.00 cheaper than a new SS Ruger Mark III with bull barrel and a trigger job. A new S&W 41 will cost about $1000.00 retail.

    This way the pistol has the same feel and controls for the lower half. Also, I don't have to register a second pistol.
