History lessson please- Rem 1902 Rolling block

Need a history lesson on Remington 1902 Rolling Block in a 7mm. Can not find any info such as year of manufacture ect... Thanks in advance to all wise ones at GB - Iowa

    This is from the Gun Traders Guide.(2003)

    No.5 Special Single-Shot Rifle
    Single-shot,rolling-block action.Calibers:7mm Mauser,.30-30,
    .30-40 Krag, .303 British,.32-40,.32 Special,.38-55(high-power cartridges).Bbl.lengths:24,26,and 28 inches.Weight:About 7 lbs.
    Open sporting sights.Plain straight-grip stock and forearm.Made
    1902-18.NOTE:Models 1897 and 1902 Military Rifles,intended for
    the export market,are almost identical with the No.5,except for
    30-inch bbl.full military stock and weight(about 8.5 lbs.);a carbine
    was also supplied.The military rifles were produced in caliber 8mm
    Lebel for France,7.62mm Russian for Russia and 7mm Mauser for
    the Central and South American government trade.At one time,
    Remington also offered these military models to retail buyers.

    Information very helpful. Now I know it is military but I guess I just assumed it was a 1902 not a 1897. How do I tell the difference?
    Not; it is not case colored on receiver and there is no saddle ring.

    Flayderman says that the only difference is that the Model 1902's had "automatic ejection".

    Chamber a dummy cartridge in your rifle. After pulling the trigger to drop the hammer. Pull back the breech block to open the action. You will then know if your rifle is a Model 1897 or a 1902.

    No need to use a dummy. The breechblock opens with a snap on a 1902.
