winchester gun value heres the pics
i have a winchester 94 made in 1895 it is a take down model it says on the side 30 wfc sn#123xxx the rifle is in 90% condition. anyone have an idea of its value? the bores are in ex cond. the wood is deluxe walnut.

If the serial is actually 123,xxx, then it wasn't made in 1895... more like 1898/1899.
As for your value question, there are a LOT more details you need to provide;
1. Barrel length?
2. Barrel contour shape (e.g. octagon, round, or 1/2 octagon)?
3. Deluxe, Semi-Deluxe, of Plain Sporting Rifle?
4. Magazine length (e.g. Full, 2/3, or 1/2)?
5. Standard open sights or special order?
6. Standard steel crescent butt plate, or Shotgun style?
7. Plain trigger, or set trigger?
8. Plain oil finished stocks, or deluxe walnut?
9. Checkered stocks?
10. Bore condition?

Buckmaster: it appears that you have a very nice (most firearms to me are very nice in 92% condition+) fancy sporting rifle with special order shotgun buttplate, pistol grip (remember that the lever had to be bent) and special wood and checkering. In the absence of evidence to the contrary the tang sight may also be original order. The takedown feature is a 20% premium. The 2005 Standard Catalog of Firearms says $7,500 in Very Good condition. It would be worth the $50 or so to get a letter from the Cody Museum to confirm the attributes of the firearm.

thanks merr i wish this was mine its a friends from work it was his grandfathers and hes 68yrs old his father gave it to him. said they bought it new and yes the rear tang is orig.

You have a very nice rifle. merrbarb is right get a cody letter on it. If Bert comes back he can probably get the value as close as anybody.

That is a very nice looking Special Sporting Rifle[^]. However, I still need to know what the barrel length is (to determine if it is a "Lightweight" Rifle).
The price quote from the 2005 Standard Catalog of Firearms is probably just a "bit" on the optimistic side, but it could be possible in a live auction. Both of the pictures you posted are really too dark for me to adequately evaluate the overall condition... is it possible to provide me with several additional close up photos? If you can do that, I can give you a very close estimate of the graded condition, and what the potential retail value would be. I can be contacted at Win1885@msn.com
I completely agree with the suggestion to get a factory letter for it from the Cody Firearms Museum (cost is $55 for non memmers) - http://www.bbhc.org/firearms/records.cfm
If you take some additional photos, try taking them outdoors in natural light (most digital cameras seem to do much better with natural lighting).

A 22-inch barrel points to it being a "Extra Lightweight Rifle", and it will have a higher value than a regular Deluxe Special Sporting Rifle. You have very good taste if you were impressed by it... Winchester really knew how to make some awesome deluxe rifles back then[^].
