I have a Jap rifle Mod."I" Looks like the Carcano (Italy) Will any other stock fit it? 99, 38,... ANYTHING?? Any info will help.

  I think that you might have some luck with Springfield Sporters. Since this IS, I believe, a Carcano rifle made under license for the Nipponese Government, a 6.5 Italian miltary stock might just do the trick. Check for Springfield's advert in the latest Shotgun News and give them a call. I THINK the web adress is www.SSporters.com., but I am not sure.

  The Type I has a Mauser (Arisaka) type magazine and the characteristic Arisaka dovetailed toe on the stock. The Carcano stock wouldn't be a drop-in.
  Type I rifles are becoming more regarded by collectors.
