Thompson encore
I bought a Encore pistol recently at a gunshow. It's something I have been wanting for over a year and found a new stainless model at a good price. The barrel that it came with is the .223. I know this is a very versatile firearm and I have plans for many different barrels. I would just like to hear from other Encore users on the durablity and the accuracy that you have experienced with this.

I'm not sure if your question is about the durability of the 223 cal. barrels or more to the overall durability of the Encore pistol.
I bought my first TC Contender in 1968 (still have it) and I also have the Encore and new G2.
My preference runs to the original Contenders because you can adjust the trigger pull weight. However, I bought the Encore so that I could use higher pressure chamberings and the 12 and 20 guage barrels. I bought the G2 because it was the newest of the line and I wanted one for my collection. In reality I think it is basically a "junior" sized Encore and I doubt if it will see any real use.
With all of the above said I've put a lot of rounds through the Encore platform and have never had the first problem with them. And of the folks I know, only one of them had a problem which TC quickly fixed. On the Contender side the history is longer, but the company service is, again, first rate, and eventhough the original Contender has been out of production for the past few years TC still supports them.
I think you will be pleased with your Encore, but I will warn you, TC's can become addictive .....
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -
93glide,I have three Contenders and four Encores,all rifles and I like shooting them and reloading for them.It's funny,I started hunting at an early age with a Single-shot and now I'm a senior citizen and back to Single-shots. 0
