LRM primer and 220 Swift?

Anyone have any opinions about using the magnum primers in the 220 Swift? If so, any loads that would give 37-3800 fps? Thanks. Emery

    I use LMR primers in MOST of my cartridges in that class. 22-250, 225 Winchester etc. They can net you about an extra 100 fps in any given load, so if you want to go that route (don't you think the Swift is quick enough already?)give it a run and see how the accuracy is. Just be sure to keep an eye out for incipient case head pressure signs.

    1KYDSTER, I was just curious. I'm NOT looking for maximum velocity, actually would like to settle in at around 3800 fps or so. I have these magnum primers and only use them in my BPCR guns so was just wondering if anyone had used them at all for the 22 cals. needmyguns, can't say that I know Ron, the name is familiar tho.     I've never seen any difference using mag primers in my swift ackley but some people say they do so it's worth a try. If you're shooting near max loads adjust you load downward accordingly to start testing. velocity is a function of pressure. 95% of all velocity is gaind by case capacity to bore size ratio and secional density of the bullet used. Case shape, neck angle, primer type etc. account for only about 5% of velocity. Give it a try and have fun

    my speer book says to use magnum primers for a lot of 22-250 and 220 swift loads. i use bench rest though.

    When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.
