New choate "ultimate sniper" stock
Anybody have an opinion on the new ultimate sniper stock from choate? This price is right but I am not sure about the general qaulity.

Aluminum frame with plastic over-molding, designed by Jonathan Plaster USMC US ARMY ... I have the Varminter model which is the same thing with a stright flat forarm ... mine weighs about 4.5 pounds so its a little heavy, but it is very sturdy.
For $139 mine was a good deal ... when I bought mine several years ago the only stock that came close to it in form or function was $450

Like Kimber Kid I have the Ultimate Varmit, the one that Savage sells with their "sniper package" is actually the Ultimate Varmit and not the Ultimate Sniper.
Some people hate them, some people love them. I happen to love the feel of my stock. The next step up with be a McMillan A3 or A5 which runs about 400.00 compared (without options) to 175.00 Retail for the Choate UVM stock.0 -

F.Y.I. John Plaster was in the ARMY (SF) Not the USMC, hope he does not see this [:D][:D][:D]
JP is a friend... And one of his X-Team members from Nam' lives in town and has the first stock that Choate made. It's not much different than the one you can buy now. The stock has all the bells and whistles. Very good buy for the money!
Plaster ran the "ONE SHOT ONE KILL" School for years here in Minnesota.....

They are ugly.
Heavy.The Sniper will weight out nearly 6 pounds.
They just also happen to be about the cheapest way to put together a tough,all-the-gun is capable of in the way of accuracy there is today.
For a direct,bolt-together "anybody can do it"..they can't be beat.
Call Choate direct.They have 'seconds'...80 bucks. These stocks may have a cosmetic blemish.0 -
Being a feller of limited funds i called them a few minutes ago and pretty much begged them to sell me one of them thar "2nd's" fer $80 er so.
Sadly i was told they are sold at gunshows only and if i were up yonder near Tulsa that's where they will be next....[V]
I reckon driving from Atlanter to Tulser wouldn't be worth it.....or would it?? [:o)]0 -
They must have changed their policy.I bought two at the last Tulsa show,October...and I asked about calling the shop to get another.Was told " No Problem..."...Didn't need another,yet..... 0 -

It is 308 and the comp not only helps, it nearly eliminates recoil. I wouldn't be afraid to put my 4 year old little girl behind the trigger if I thought she wouldn't be otherwise dangerous! The remaining recoil pulse is just a little nudge [^]
