I have a Whitney, serial number "exp 5" with box, extra barrel, no book.
Box is kind of beat up. The plastic insert for the box is cracked.

Can any one give me some information on the original whitney wolverines. I have a blue one and would like a nickeled gun but they are hard to find and to expensive. i have seen someone selling some polished ones on gunbroker that look like nickeled ones. any thoughts on these guns. 0 -
That has been the story for a couple of years. Last I looked is is not on their website as available. 0 -
It's been in their last few catalogs.
Not sure if they have them on hand.
They also say they have many parts that fit the original Wolverines.

The new price is $279.50. Got an email from them last week that it was now a "GO" on the NEW Wolverine since they had their magazine problem fixed. I noted postings in this forum as far back as 2002 citing the same "magazine problem."

lets all remember history and remember that the whitney wolverine was a flop of a gun. cheaper than cheap. best groups were shot at 15yds and they were still all over the place. last shot didnt lock back the slide so many a times youd shoot on an empty breech knicking the chamber, causing feed and eject problems. the only collectible thing about old ww's is that they were made in different colors. if they are introducing it again, the old problems will surface again and odds are, they will retro the gimmicks too. sometimes retro is best left alone. also too, for those that are up and sharp on gun design, you will notice that back in the 90's, colt made their own version of the wolverine. and...it was a flop too. so folks, bottom line, its the same burnt eggs, different diner. there are a lot of cheap guns one could waste their money on that are better than a wolverine. it would appear that this is a marketing move to clear the shelves of old ww parts that no one wanted. seems they bought it all cheap, whipped up a a plan, and once they get you to buy them, what do they care if its a flop? they got your money and made goal, and youre left with a wolverine! just like the generations before you! [;)]

The magazine deal reminds me of another gun that was one of the first large bore carry guns they were big bucks and came with a promise to send the magazines later . guess what the Magazine story was a red herring because the guns had function trouble. The W W looked great but as everyone else said they left a lot to be desired. 0 -
at least buck rogers' flashlight gun worked when he pointed it at a villan.[:p]
i owned 2 ww's and promptly sold them to some other naive 'soon to be' owner![:D]
pretty yes, but pretty doesnt hit targets. heck, my jennings 22 was more dependable! and it was made of steel, unlike the alloy ww![:0]
btw...the big bore mag problem sounds like the old dirty harry auto mag.

Let's just hope you're wrong. I always wanted one, so I'll hold back for awhile in buying one.I'll wait for a few range reports.If they do blow maybe I can get one on the cheap in a closeout sale[;)].

When they were on the market back in the 50s I almost bought one, until I compared to the Ruger Mark 1 that was the same price $37.50.Needless to say I bought the Ruger. [:)] 0 -

99% of the fun of owning something is waiting for it. once you get it, odds are it will go in the trash. sound familiar? ho-ho-ho? its the american way. (convince, sell, run.) besides, range reports are political in nature. sometimes the writers are given free guns and ammo to pump up a piece of crap. just read an NRA or gun rag and see what i mean. true owners that have been there and done that for more than 30 minutes to do the test, will be straight shooters more than a reporter. we tell it like it is/was. [;)] did i mention the bent sheet metal rear sight assy that has to be tapped half way out of its dovetail to get a straight windage shot on target? and what about elevation? elevate? whats that?
