Witness Conversion Kits?

Has anyone installed any of the factory caliber conversion kits out there in their Witness?
I found a place in Oklahoma that has a few, and wondered if they were drop-in, or did they need a little working on to function?
I'm talking about a full-size, steel framed EAA Witness; the polymer ones are too easy.
I'm thinking of going from 40S&W to a 38Super Auto.

    I did'nt do it myself but a friend recently went for the same conversion you want, and said it was "virtually" a drop-in. By that I took him to mean there was a tiny bit of chasing to do, but he is no mechanical geious and seemed to do it without causing a problem. I've shot it and was impressed, for whatever it's worth.

    I haven't done it myself, but I understand that conversion from one caliber to another with this pistol just involves just swapping the mag and dropping in a new slide/barrel set with no other changes. Whole thing takes about 20 seconds. Apparently, the gun was deliberately designed from the ground up to be modular that way, with identical barrel diameters, and even similar ejectors and breechfaces that work with a variety of rounds, so you don't get the issues you get with other guns.

    The idea is that in much of Europe its much harder to acquire licenses for guns, so once you get one, you want to maximize its versatility with conversions.

    Personally, I'm thinking about upping my 9mm (pictured below) to a .40. I want to get the "wonder-finish" upper, so that my end gun will be a two=tone beast like the defunct Bren-Ten!

    According to their website the conversion you want is not possible.


    "IV) Can I convert my 9mm Witness to 45ACP?" (Read A & B)

    A) Steel frame 9mm or 40sw Witness pistols can only be converted to 9mm or 40sw or 22lr
    B) Steel frame 38super, 45acp, 10mm can be converted to: 9mm, 40sw, 38super, 45acp, 10mm or 22lr
    C) Any Witness P can be converted to 9mm, 40sw, 45acp, 38 super
    D) Any Witness PS can be converted to 9mm, 40sw or 22lr
    E) Any Witness PC can be converted to 9mm, 40sw or 22lr

    How much are they asking for the conversion kits? I looked into getting the .38 Super kit for my .45,but for the cost of the kit I could almost buy a whole other gun.

    Y'know, I went to the EAA website an' saw the same thing ATF saw; but this guy sez they will work.
    He's asking almost $200 for the kit (Factory), which is why I figured it might work. If I could get another brand new gun in the caliber I'm seeking for only $200; I'd buy it now!

    Rimfire72; got any Minneapolis Moline graphics?

    I think I figured it out without spending a dime! My 38Super mag will not fit into my 40S&W frame. Looks like I'll have to get a .45 after all!

    200's not bad,last time I saw them on the EAA site they wanted almost 300. I only gave 317.00 for my 45 NIB. (fullsize w/ Wonder finish)
    I "stole" my Farmall pic from buycoolshirts.com Its a t-shirt graphic. They have quite a few tractor shirts but I can't remember if they have any MMs or not.
